It was fantastic to once again be at the official opening of the 771st Ilkeston Charter Fair, the oldest Charter Fair in the country.
For four days, Ilkeston Town Centre is transformed into a fairground filled with colour, lights and fun for everyone of all ages. The fair has a rich history spanning over 700 years dating back to the original Charter granted by King Henry III in 1252.
I had great fun going on the rides, and I hope that as many of you as possible can get to Ilkeston and enjoy the celebrations despite the rain.
The Ilkeston Charter Fair is one of the largest street fairs in Europe and is always one of my highlights of the year. Please get to Ilkeston and show your support for your local community!
