The Government has added XL Bully type dogs to the list of breeds banned under the Dangerous Dogs Act.
From 31 December 2023, breeding, selling, advertising, rehoming, abandoning and allowing XL Bully type dogs to stray will be illegal. They will also need to be on a lead and muzzled in public.
From 1 February 2024 it will be a criminal offence to own an XL Bully in England and Wales unless owners have a Certificate of Exemption for their dog. Erewash residents who have XL Bully dogs will need to adhere to strict rules such as microchipping their dog and keeping it on a lead and muzzled when in public.
