The Met Office has issued a Yellow Rain Warning for Erewash and the East Midlands until 8pm tonight. There is likely to be periods of persistent and heavy rainfall lasting until Friday. This will could bring travel disruption and a potential risk of flooding to our area.
Subsequently, the Environment Agency has issued a number of be PREPARED flood alerts for Erewash.
Areas most at risk are low-lying agricultural land and roads around Draycott, Ilkeston, Long Eaton, Sandiacre, Sawley and Stapleford. However, everyone across Erewash should remain vigilant to the risk of flooding.

I have been assured that the Environment Agency are closely monitoring the situation and their staff are patrolling watercourses in the area.
It is expected that river levels will remain high until the weekend. So please remain vigilant.
