Ahead of the new school year, I have written to Derbyshire County Council and have asked them to review and reverse their plans to increase the cost of school meals by 41 per cent.
Whilst I understand that the Council are entitled to raise the price of school meals, I believe that a 41 per cent increase is excessive. This drastic rise will cost working parents hundreds of pounds per year per child more than last year. This is at a time when global events are already placing strain on people’s finances.
Children across Erewash and the UK must have healthy and balanced meals to help them thrive in the classroom. I hope that the Council will consider my request. You can view my letter below.
