Maggie Throup, Member of Parliament for Erewash, is encouraging local groups to apply for a grant which will help fund community projects.
Maggie Throup MP recently attended a parliamentary event to learn how community projects in Erewash can gain financial support through the National Lottery Community Fund (NLCF).
Maggie commented:
“It is fantastic to hear that National Lottery funding is available for community projects in Erewash. Over the last five years, Erewash has been awarded approximately £1.6 million through 75 grants. Thanks to National Lottery players, this funding can support people and communities in Erewash to thrive.
“I want to encourage any voluntary group in Erewash with a great idea for the community to seriously consider applying for the National Lottery Community Fund.”
The NLCF is the largest funder of community activity in the UK. Over the last 12 months, the fund has awarded nearly £600 million across the UK. Last year, over 35 per cent of organisations that received a grant from the NLCF were awarded funding for the first time.
Insight has shown that applications for the NLCF in Erewash are currently well below the average for the region. Maggie Throup MP is now urging local voluntary groups that need financial support for a project to apply for a grant.
