It is great to be back in Parliament after the summer recess and on Monday evening I got straight back in to action by taking part in a debate on Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) in Education Settings.
I know many across the country and in Erewash are concerned about this ongoing issue and the potential disruption that it will have on children’s education.
In the chamber, I asked the Education Secretary, Rt Hon Gillian Keegan MP, whether she could reconfirm her commitment to the School Rebuilding Programme, specifically the two recently approved projects at Kirk Hallam Community Academy and Saint John Houghton Catholic Voluntary Academy in Erewash, and whether she could reassure me that the timetable for these rebuilds will be unaffected by the need to carry out repairs to school buildings found to contain RAAC.
