It was an honour to participate in a number of Remembrance events across Erewash over the weekend.
It was a privilege to lay a memorial cross at Ilkeston Market Place on Armistice Day. On Remembrance Sunday, I joined the Long Eaton Parade from West Gate to the War Memorial, where I then laid a wreath.
On Sunday evening, I was delighted to join the congregation at St Giles’ Church in Sandiacre for their Remembrance Service. During the service, the names of local soldiers were read aloud in honour of their courage and bravery during the Great War and WWII.
I also had the opportunity to pay my respects at the Cenotaph in Whitehall.
I am extremely proud of all our Armed Forces, and I was pleased to see the entire community pay their respects amicably.
