Maggie Throup, Member of Parliament for Erewash has praised the achievements of the 707 charity trustees in Erewash as part of Trustees’ Week 2023.
With 133 registered charities in Erewash and numerous others operating in the area, trustees, many of whom are volunteers, play a vital role in charitable work, ensuring support reaches the local community.
People from all walks of life serve their community as trustees of local charities in Erewash and I would like to congratulate the 707 charity trustees in Erewash who give up their time to help people, often those who are the most in need.
It would be hard of me to mention all the excellent charities that we have in Erewash, but I would like to give a shout out to Treetops Hospice, who for the last forty years have been providing exceptional care to people with a range of life-limiting conditions.
Maggie’s comments coincide with Trustees’ Week, running from November 6-10, 2023, which celebrates the invaluable work of nearly one million trustees throughout the UK. The week provides opportunities to exchange experiences, participate in training, and enhance essential trustee skills.
The theme of this year’s Trustees’ Week is ‘Many voices. Working together. With purpose’. Celebrating the individual talents, viewpoints and experiences that trustees bring to their boards, and how a diverse collective of people can help make a charity stronger and achieve its purpose. The campaign also encourages more people to consider what they may be able to give to trusteeship and what they may gain in return.
