I was delighted to show my support for Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis’ Parliamentary event. Pulmonary fibrosis (PF) is a terminal lung condition affecting 70,000 people in the UK. Fewer than half of people with PF survive for five years after diagnosis.
This is an issue that is close to my heart as my late mother was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. Throughout my time in Parliament, I have taken every opportunity to support Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis and have previously spoke at roundtables.
Recently I visited the local Breathe Easy group which meets at Littlewick Health Centre, Ilkeston. This group provides support for those with lung conditions. I was able to chat with an IPF patient during my visit.
I will do whatever I can to support Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis in their work to raise the profile of IPF and the need for focused research.
