With the festive season over and many of us on a new year’s health drive, there is no better way to start the year than by participating in Dry January.
Although 31 days without your favourite tipple sounds daunting, evidence suggests that just a month without alcohol has amazing health benefits for your body, including lower blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes risk, as well as lower cancer-related proteins in the body.
Research also highlights that participants:
- Sleep better
- Lose weight
- Save money
- Improve their concentration
- Get an amazing sense of achievement
So, this month I am urging Erewash resident to swap their favourite cocktail, pint of beer or glass of wine for a mocktail or non-alcoholic drink. There is a good range of non-alcoholic beverages in supermarkets, bars and pubs – so don’t be put off.
Dry January is about taking a break, living and feeling better. Good luck to all those taking part!
