It's eleven years since my Mum lost her battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) but I can still see her struggling for breath when she did the simplest of tasks, including just eating scrambled egg. This is a very cruel disease that is still very much misunderstood. Whilst treatments have improved, we are still a long, long way from a cure. The life-expectancy is much shorter than most cancers, yet it gets very little attention with regards research funding. Hopefully the recognition given to Wendy Dickinson and IPF on the One Show this week will go so way to address this. During my time as a Member of Parliament I did try to raise the profile of this disease but there is still so much more to do. That is why I am supporting IPF Awareness Month. More information about IPF and support available can be found here: https://www.actionpf.org/
